Dallas golf courses range from exclusive professional clubs to public family courses. Here is a sampling of a few of Dallas’ best.
1680 Bandera Dr., Carrollton TX 75010
Coyote Ridge, just 20 minutes from downtown Dallas or Dallas-Ft. Worth airport, offers a front nine and a back nine in opposite topographical surroundings. The front is hilly, open, and dotted with water and bunkers, the back cuts sharply through an old gravel quarry turned garden, intersected twice by Coyote Creek. Green fees run from $30-$62.

This popular David Bennett designed Dallas track sees lots of play, but is still considered one Dallas’ best-kept secrets. Water comes into play on 15 holes and the course has a tendency to play narrowly. Keeton Park comes in at 6,500 yards, and the green fees stay in the low $12-$20 range.

Stevens Park is the oldest metropolitan course in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, opened its links in 1922. The course is surrounded by exclusive Dallas neighborhoods, and has views of the downtown skyline. This Dallas golf course plays 6,000 yards, but presents challenges to even the lowest handicapper in the group. It shouldn’t cost more than $30 with a cart and can be crowded on the weekends.

Tangleridge opened in 1995, the design of Texas course architect Jeff Brauer. This Dallas area golf course is a par-72 playing to 6,835 yards. The layout works with the hilly country and water comes prominently into play. Ranked among the top 20 public courses in Texas, Tangleridge is about 30 minutes outside of the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Green fees run from $29-$49.

The Tenison Glen course (par-72, 6,605 yards) is the second oldest public course in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Tenison Park Golf Courses just underwent a facelift. The Highlands Course was opened to the public in 2000 after a complete rebuild by architects D.A. Weibring and Steve Wolford. Lakes, bunkers and new greens were added.The green fees are in the $16-$21 range on the Glen course and in the $36-$42 range on the Highlands.

Texas Star Golf Course is the highest rated golf course in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, receiving a Golf Digest four-star ‘places to play’ rating, in addition to being among Texas’ top ten golf courses. The par-71, 7,001 yard course is built around Hurricane Creek and features native flora and fauna unique to the region.
